I'm in the process of setting up my business. Can I join ABTA now?
You can apply to join ABTA now, and we’ll process your application, but we can’t grant membership until your business has begun trading.
How long will my application take to process?
We’ll acknowledge your application when we receive it, so that you know it’s reached us safely. After that, it’ll take between six and eight weeks for us to process your application. It may take longer if your application is incomplete when it reaches us, or if we need to follow up details with other agencies.
My business is a mixture of retail activity and principal activity. Do I need to send in two applications?
No – we have one class of membership and you only need to make one application to join us. However, our membership requirements recognise the difference between agents and principals so you'll need to understand the nature of your business and be ready to provide information about its activities.
If you’ve got a mixture of business, we’ll allocate you two ABTA numbers when you join - one for your retail activity and one for your activity as a principal.
