Boasting attractions such as the breath-taking Giants Causeway, the impressive Game of Thrones and Titanic Exhibitions in Belfast and stunning countryside, around 7% of all employment in Northern Ireland is supported by travel and tourism.

More than 60,000 people in the region are dependent on a thriving travel and tourism sector for their livelihoods. Around a third of travel and tourism jobs are held by young people (aged 16-24), compared to just 12% of all jobs in the wider economy.

Northern Ireland attracts more than £208m annually from international visitors and around £440m is brought into the area by domestic tourists.  An estimated £408m is also injected into the regional economy from local people travelling outbound (made up of what constituents spend before they travel) – meaning a collective contribution of around £1bn every year from the ‘tourism mix’.
