Do you understand the legal liabilities and risks associated with group travel and tours?

Depending on the types of product you sell, you’ll need to be aware of recent legislation including the Package Travel Regulations and GDPR. You’ll also need to know what the law says about significant changes, accessibility, coach access, driving hours, tour guiding and more.

Health and safety is a key concern in this market, and customers expect their travel company to provide security and knowledge around a destination. What are you doing to ensure the safety of group travellers?

Group travel organisers and touring companies create some of the most complex holiday products in the market and companies are continuing to innovate their products, destinations and itineraries. With more people comes more risk, and some demographics present higher risk. You may be dealing with multiple destinations, changes to itineraries, mixed ability groups and cultural and language barriers. If you offer touring, there is more risk associated with remote locations and adventure activities.

It’s important that you protect your company against reputational and financial risks by being up to date with the latest legislation.

ABTA’s second annual Group Travel and Escorted Tours Conference will look at how to sell and deliver group holidays and tours. Luke Golding from Travlaw will provide a session on the legislation around group travel and tours and Angela Hills from ABTA will look at ways to manage health and safety risks. The event will take place at Japan House in London on 26 September 2018. Places are available to book online.
